Mission Statement

The mission of the Freedom Elementary School Counseling Department is to ensure the success of all students by providing a comprehensive, data-driven, and equitable counseling program.  The program will address academics, social-emotional growth, and college/career development of every student. Our program supports the unique needs of military-connected children, ensuring they have the resources, resilience, and confidence to succeed in school and beyond.


Vision Statment

The vision of the Freedom Elementary School Counseling Department is that all students will be empowered with the skills, confidence, and resilience to achieve their academic and personal potential. Our students will be recognized for their excellence in academics, as well as their social responsibility, because they will be committed to lifelong learning. They will be prepared to succeed in school and their careers as responsible and caring citizens.

DEVELOPMENTAL DOMAINS

ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

The attitude, knowledge, and skills that students need to be successful academically. This domain allows the students to reach their educational goals and guides the school counselor to implement strategies to allow the students the best academic learning experience. 

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Focuses on students gaining the knowledge and skills to be successful members of the community and employees. Ensuring that students are ready to set realistic goals that will allow them to be successful throughout their careers. 

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The way in which students can successfully learn to manage their emotions, gain the skills and knowledge to build healthy relationships. Students gain self-awareness, social awareness, and responsible decision-making to gain personal growth and have positive social outcomes. 

CONFIDENTIALITY

Confidentiality is a core ethical principle in which student information is protected and kept private. I respect this right and will ensure that I maintain confidentiality.

 

CONFIDENTIALITY LIMITS

There are limits to confidentiality to keep students safe. Confidentiality can be broken if:

  • A student shares that someone is harming them.
  • A student wants to harm someone or is harming someone.
  • A student is harming themselves or wants to hurt themselves. 
  • A student permits me to share with a trusted adult.
